The UAE has three ice rinks with current official pages showing they operate: Dubai Ice Rink in The Dubai Mall, Sport Society Ice Rink in Mirdif and Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi. Al Nasr Leisureland's rink in Dubai was reported as closing in November 2025. Two new hockey venues in Dubai are announced but not confirmed open, and several other rinks are listed online without current confirmation.

Which ice rinks in the UAE are open?

We split rinks into four groups:

• Open: the operator's own page, checked on 23 October 2026, shows it trading (hours, prices or programmes).
• Closed: a dated news report says it has closed or was closing.
• Announced: the operator says it is coming, but we could not confirm it has opened.
• Unconfirmed: listed by directories or old news, with no current official page we could read.

"Unconfirmed" does not mean closed. It means we could not see a current page from the operator. Phone before you go.

Dubai rinks in detail

Dubai Ice Rink, The Dubai Mall. The rink's own site says it is Olympic-sized, opens daily 10:00 to 23:45, hosts ice hockey games and practices, and has more than 2,000 pairs of hire skates. The rink's ticket page lists AED 100, AED 125 or AED 140 for a 90-minute session between 19 and 31 October 2026 (Emaar's attraction page still shows AED 130 day and AED 150 evening), checked 23 October 2026. Full details in our Dubai Ice Rink prices guide. Entity page: Dubai Ice Rink.

Sport Society Ice Rink, Mirdif. Its site says it opened in 2022 and offers Learn to Skate coaching, with hours of 13:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and 10:30 to midnight at weekends (subject to change). No prices are shown on its page. Gulf News listed AED 120 day and AED 145 evening in July 2025. Galaxy Hockey Academy is based here.

Al Nasr Leisureland, Oud Metha. Gulf News (updated 28 November 2025) reported that the ice rink would close from 30 November, with no official reason given. The venue had operated since 1979. Bayut's undated rinks list and Property Finder's blog (modified December 2025) still describe it, and Property Finder calls it a hockey hub. Read our Al Nasr status page before travelling.

GLXY Sport Hub / Galaxy Arena, Oud Metha. Galaxy's hub page describes two ice sheets (a main NHL-size rink of 1,401 m², as printed, and a 391 m² training rink), 1,600 seats and a pro shop with sharpening. It shows "Coming September 2026" and "opening soon". Galaxy has scheduled its GLXY Cup there from 30 December 2026 to 4 January 2027. We could not confirm the arena is open. We also could not confirm whether it is on the former Al Nasr site; both are in Oud Metha.

Emirates Sports Arena, Dubai Sports City. Arab News reported in May 2025 that the arena would open in September 2025, with about 10,000 m² and 600 seats. Emirates Sports Group's page now says "Opening Spring 2026", with 26 x 61 m ice and a planned hockey academy and store. We found no report of an opening. Treat it as announced.

Galleria Ice Rink, Deira. Gulf News (July 2025) listed AED 55 on weekdays and AED 65 at weekends. Bayut's undated list shows "from AED 30/45". We found no current page from the hotel or operator.

Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi. ZSC describes it as the largest Olympic-sized rink in the UAE, with more than 1,200 seats. Its page, checked 23 October 2026, lists public skating at AED 85 off-peak (Monday to Thursday), AED 110 peak (Friday evening to Sunday) and AED 210 for a full day pass. Memberships are AED 700 for one month, AED 1,500 for three and AED 4,500 for twelve. Phone 02 403 4333. Entity page: Zayed Sports City Ice Rink.

Hili Fun City, Al Ain. Khaleej Times reported a refurbishment in December 2013 (updated April 2015), with 1,400 seats and a rink built in 1987. That report is old.

Al Ain Mall Ice Rink. Kidzapp lists phone 03 766 0333 and hours of 10:00 to 22:00, with no price and no date.

Al Ain hosts the 2027 IIHF Division II Group A in April 2027, but the venue has not been named. See our IIHF 2027 Al Ain guide.

Why do lists of UAE rinks disagree?

Three reasons:

1. Closures are not removed. Several lifestyle lists still show Al Nasr Leisureland after its reported closure.
2. Announcements are treated as openings. Articles from 2025 said Emirates Sports Arena would open that year. The operator now says Spring 2026, and we have seen no opening.
3. Different definitions. WION reported on 2 June 2026 that the UAE operates four indoor ice rinks, naming only Dubai Ice Rink and Zayed Sports City. Directory lists also include Galleria and the Al Ain rinks, so the total depends on which rinks are counted. Because we cannot see the full list behind that figure, we do not repeat it as a total.

Public skating prices, side by side

Where is hockey played?

Gulf Today reported in November 2024 that Emirates Hockey League games were played at Dubai Mall, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi rinks. For clubs and youth programmes by rink, see ice hockey in Dubai: rinks and clubs.

What to check before you act

• Phone the rink before travelling, especially those marked unconfirmed.
• Do not go to Al Nasr Leisureland for skating without checking it has reopened.
• Treat GLXY Sport Hub and Emirates Sports Arena as not yet open until the operator announces an opening date that has passed.
• Check prices on the rink's own page; third-party prices are often old.
• Spot an error? Send us a source and we will update the table.
